Today’s post is a shout-out to an old high school friend who is doing something daring and amazing: a personal bid to raise $1,000 for St. Baldrick’s Foundation, “a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives”.  If she raises the $1,000, she’s going to shave her head in “a display of solidarity with kids who have cancer – most of whom don’t get to choose how to style their hair today”.  (Quotes from St. Baldrick’s website.)

I am truly touched by her commitment, want to help get the message out to as many people as possible.  So please, consider making a donation and sending this on to as many people as you like!  Let’s help her get her bald on!

Thanks in advance!

Update 3/15/11: My friend reached her fundraising goal quickly and, true to her word, shaved her head in solidarity with Kim O., a friend of a friend who starts chemotherapy this week.  I am so proud of Kathryn for her passion to the cause!

And many thanks to any of you who donated after visiting this page.  You’re all heroes!
